Abstract:
The emergence of positive psychology has drawn attention to the study of happiness and well-being. In positive psychology, well-being is typically examined through two components: hedonic well-being, which involves seeking pleasure and enjoyment, and eudaimonic well-being, rooted in experiencing purpose and meaning in life. The PERMA model present one of the latest frameworks in this field of positive psychology and conceptualizes well-being as a multidimensional construct integrating five elements: Positive emotions (hedonic experiences of positivity, satisfaction, and pleasure), Engagement (flow states characterized by losing track of time), Relationships (feeling cared for and loved), Meaning (having a sense of purpose), and Achievement (life accomplishments). These elements collectively capture both hedonic and eudaimonic aspects. Real-time measurement of well-being represents a critical advancement for applying the PERMA model. Subjective well-being dynamically fluctuates with life circumstances, unfolding across short- and long-term timescales. Momentary experiences accumulate to shape global well-being evaluations. Dynamic assessment tools, such as the mPERMA scale introduced by Heshmati et al. (2023), can reveal patterns in well-being dynamics and links them to long-term outcomes.
Previous studies demonstrate mPERMA’s strong internal consistency, convergent validity with other well-being measures and cross-cultural applicability. The scale also predicts outcomes like job satisfaction and psychological safety, informing workplace interventions. However, scholars argue that evolving societal norms necessitate ongoing scale updates, positioning validation as a continuous process. This study presents the first attemp to validation of a Russian version of mPERMA adaptation. Data were collected via a Telegram bot between February and May 2025, incorporating mPERMA.
