Young researcher from IDLab presented innovative developments at the international conference on intelligent systems
From November 19 to 21, 2024, the V International Scientific and Technical Conference "Intelligent Information Systems: Theory and Practice" was held at Kursk State University. The event brought together leading scientists and experts who discussed cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning and intelligent data analysis.
One of the conference participants was Nikita Matkin, Research Assistant from the International laboratory of intangible-driven economy (IDLab). During the plenary session, he presented the results of work conducted jointly with the Laboratory for Labor Market Studies at the Higher School of Economics as part of the university's strategic projects. The research focuses on creating intelligent systems for labor market analysis using machine learning and artificial intelligence methods.
In his presentation, Nikita Matkin described two key developments. The first one helps users choose an educational path by predicting their future salary based on personal data. Additionally, it suggests training options for those who have not yet decided on a career. The second development is aimed at analyzing job vacancies and matching applicants' skills with employers' requirements. It identifies key skills for each profession, evaluates their market value and assists in building a competitive resume.
The report included a description of the technologies underlying these systems, such as processing job postings, using neural networks for forecasting and clustering algorithms for classifying skills and professions. Nikita emphasized that these solutions not only facilitate interaction with the labor market but also enhance decision-making quality in both economic and educational contexts.
Alexander Khudin, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Kursk Region, highlighted the importance of developing artificial intelligence to address current challenges. The conference served as a significant platform for exchanging experiences in applying AI across various fields including biology, medicine, economics, social network theory, radio electronics, international relations and jurisprudence. The interdisciplinary nature of the plenary section allowed for exploring the issues related to intelligent information systems in scientific and applied tasks.
Nikita Matkin, Research Assistant, International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy
It was a great honor for me to present at the plenary session of the international conference “Intelligent IS” at KSU. I showcased the experience of implementing HSE’s strategic projects by IDLab and LIRT staff members. In my presentation, I emphasized that strategic projects are more than just a portfolio of research initiatives. Their implementation aims to improve the social and economic aspects of society. The developed products will help people better navigate the labor market and prepare for its transformation in a timely manner.
