Getting Started for Interns in the Lab

The HSE International Laboratory of Intangible-Driven Economy has recently accepted 11 trainees into its team. Each of them is ready to develop their strong skills and learn something new in the laboratory.

On March 31, the first meeting of all trainees took place to get acquainted with the laboratory and with each other. At the meeting, senior colleagues presented the current projects of the laboratory to the trainees, discussed general rules and recommendations for the work of trainees, recalled interesting moments from the activities of the IDLab.

The laboratory offers a wide variety of tasks, the key of which is the participation of each trainee in a particular project. This list includes such research projects as Digital transformation of a company; Economics of cyber and other sports; Corporate governance; Personnel economics; Economics of small and medium sized enterprises, as well as applied research projects on the analysis of digital profiles of companies and trends in the labor market. Most of the trainees have already chosen the projects they are interested in and started working.

In addition to working on projects that include tasks such as data collection and analysis, writing a literary review, and others, trainees' work includes participation in academic seminars Cooking up your first research, where trainees have the opportunity to present their prior calculations, talk about an article they like or share research ideas.

You can get acquainted with the personal impressions of some trainees:

Anastasia Kireicheva, 2nd year student of Economics: "I came to the laboratory because the professors told me about such a cool opportunity, and it was hard not to be interested! I expect to get work experience in my specialty and try myself in something new"

Alexey Smirnov, 3rd year student of Economics: "This year I came to the laboratory because I was offered to stay, and initially I just wanted to try myself in real tasks, get work experience. This time I expect a lot of interesting, difficult, but feasible tasks both from the academic sphere and from the real sector. I hope I will be able to implement my skills in the areas of machine and deep learning. At the moment I am involved in two projects. The first is related to the analysis of the effectiveness of the implementation of IT systems in Russian companies, and the second is related to the search for insights in text data from the Kickstarter website"

Ekaterina Marmysh, a student of the master's school: "I came to work in the laboratory because it is very interesting to try myself as a researcher working on large real projects as part of a strong team. As for job expectations, I can say that I am interested in new experience and personal development of skills and competencies related to research and data analysis. Involved in the project IT profile of Russian companies (SP 4)"

Roman Solomatin, 4th year student of Software Engineering: "I came to the laboratory because I was interested in the proposal of the academic supervisor, under whose guidance I have been writing term papers for more than a year, about the opportunity to participate in the project. I expect interesting tasks from this work. I am currently participating in a system report analysis project"

As you can see, the work in the laboratory brought together a variety of people. We wish them more creativity and curiosity, as well as to remain a large and friendly team of like-minded researchers!
