ID Lab ONLINE Workshop

Danila Sidorenko and Elena Veretennik presented the study "Research Endeavors of Business Schools"

ID Lab ONLINE Workshop

A research activity may not be the key function of business schools, though, the issue of the relevance gap and the overall contents of the schools’ research endeavours is currently in the spotlight of academics. Ranking, accreditation race and pursuit of prestige are named as the reasons to publish articles in high-quality journals for business schools’ faculty. Previous research provides little evidence on what exactly business schools publish and how this content is contrasted with authors from universities and industry. This paper explores the contents and the development of business schools’ publication areas separately for university-affiliated standalone schools. A dataset of 70,620 publications included in the Financial Times list of 49 journals from 2004 to 2020 serves as the empirical basis for this study.
