The first meeting of IDSchool

12 October was the first day of IDSchool - a new project of IDLab. Under this project, Lab’s members want to show students the essence of researchers’ work, to acquaint them with the scope of the Lab’s research and engage them in the Lab’s projects. IDSchool will allow the students of HSE Perm to work with foreign professors, get professors’ comments and suggestions on their projects, and gain experience of working in the successful research team.

The first day was devoted to acquaintance with the Lab, its team and research lines. Anna Bykova made a presentation about the development of the IDLab from a group of few researchers with no experience in empirical studies to the International Laboratory, which team includes well-known foreign professors, recognized in the international academic community as Angel Barajas, Carlos Jardon and Felix Iturriaga (all form Spanish Universities) and Dennis Coates (USA).

Next, Petr Parshakov presented one of the fastest growing areas of activity of IDLab - analysis of intangibles in sports. Sports economics inspires students especially those ones who keen on sports.

After that, Alexei Chmykhov, trainee researcher of IDLab, held interactive activity with students to find out what exactly is the main incentive to participate in IDSchool for students. According to the survey, the students are primarily focused on the development of research and writing skills in order to write high-quality scientific papers. Students also shown interest in participating in the Lab’s projects.

The day ended with a brief motivating presentation of Iuliia Naidenova. She told students about possible benefits they can get from the participation in IDSchool and Lab’s projects.

We will be glad to see participants of the first day of IDSchool and those who could not come at the next meeting!
