HSE Perm Campus experts at the DANO hackathon: support for young analysts
On August 24-25, the DANO hackathon dedicated to data analysis took place in Perm, featuring participation from school students. The event gathered 12 teams, totaling 60 participants from Perm, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the Moscow region. The hackathon provided young participants with a unique opportunity to experience being data analysts, conduct their own research based on big data, and gain a chance to advance directly to the second stage of the Data Analysis Olympiad.
The DANO hackathon is held in various cities across Russia and serves as the first stage of selection for the National Olympiad in Data Analysis. In Perm, the event was hosted at School № 77, where participants worked on research tasks using real data over two days. Experienced mentors were available to assist them.
On August 25, the students presented their research to a panel of experts. The jury included employees from T-Bank and representatives from the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), including experts from the Perm campus. Among them were Ekaterina Mezentseva and Evgenia Shenkman, junior researchers at the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy, Leonid Mylnikov, head of the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Empirical Studies, and Boris Goldobin, invited lecturer at the Department of Economics and Finance.

The DANO hackathon is an excellent opportunity for school students to test their skills in solving real cases, which is important for their professional development. The support of experienced mentors helped the participants better understand the tasks and apply advanced approaches and methods of data analysis.
