IDLab at SDG Global Summer School 2024 in China
Irina Maksimova, a research assistant from IDLab, attended the 2024 SDG Global Summer School on Sustainable Development Goals, which took place from July 22 to August 4 at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.
The summer school brought together over 35 students from various countries, including Canada, China, Pakistan, Italy, South Korea, and the USA, to discuss and study key issues of sustainable development in the modern world.
The program covered different aspects of sustainable production and consumption, such as corporate responsibility, circular economy, innovation management, and sustainable business models. Irina chose the "Sustainable Production and Consumption" track and, alongside other participants, deepened her understanding of sustainable development, learning to navigate the tensions between environmental sustainability and other business objectives.
Lectures delivered by leading professors from Zhejiang University, Aston University, and University College London provided invaluable contributions to the professional development of participants, as experts with extensive academic and industrial experience shared their knowledge and the latest advancements in sustainability and management.
Irina Maksimova's participation in the summer school was a significant step in her research on ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance). The knowledge gained and the connections made with international experts and peers will enhance her work and support the development of new projects in this critical field.
This experience allowed me to deepen my knowledge in sustainable development, connect with talented students and professors from different countries, and hear their perspectives. I particularly enjoyed working in a team of students to develop a plan for creating a sustainable business. I also had the opportunity to improve my language skills and gained many positive impressions from the rich culture of this country. I would like to express my gratitude to the lab for this opportunity!
