This paper aims to investigate the influence of facial width-to-height ratio (FWHR) on collective and individual performance and resilience, as well as to determine potential differences between online and offline contexts in the realm of esports. Considering that the masculinity portrayed by FWHR has been extensively studied in the context of traditional sports and has an impact on their outcomes, the sphere of esports differs significantly, as there is no direct influence of testosterone levels and physical capabilities. Utilizing data from matches in the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), this study attempts to uncover the influence of FWHR on the success of teams and individual players in various game scenarios. The findings of this research may shed light on the importance of physiological aspects in gaming environments and offer valuable practical insights for coaches, team managers, and eSports players.
