Victor Krakovich presented the results of the study "Research-teaching nexus: the new answer to the old question". Elena Shakina and Dennis Coates are co-authors of the paper. The study is devoted to a balance between teaching and research at the university.

The study empirically tests 3 research hypotheses: (i) a lower classroom teaching load is associated with higher research output; (ii) a higher concentration of annual classroom teaching load into less time is associated with higher research output; and (iii) a higher fraction of English-mediated classroom teaching is associated with higher research output. The study uses panel data for 7 academic years at HSE University in Russia.
