Bernardo Pincheira Sarmiento, PhD, Research Fellow in the Center of Institutional Studies HSE, presented the study "Student Employment and Academic Achievement". 

The paper studies the effect of combining part-time work with full-time studies at the last year of school, on academic performance. The results show that there is a negative and statistically significant effect on the Russian exam, but no significant effect in mathematics. Moreover, before joining the labour market, male students more likely to be employed than their female counterparts.
