Research Workshop on eSports

On Friday, February 16, a research workshop on sports economics was held by the members of the IDLab.

Sofia Paklina presented a joint work with Peter Parshakov and Dennis Coates on the topic “Does Coach Matter? Evidence from eSports. "

The paper analyzes the impact of the coach on the success of teams. The study is based on data from eSports, more precisely on the Top-100 teams of Counter Strike tournaments. The main result was that having a coach has a beneficial effect on the team’s annual prize pool, as the teams under management show the best results.
