Sports economics lecture by prof.Angel Barajas.
On November 29, the third meeting on the sports economics was held as part of a regular seminar on the economics of sports, organized by IDLab.
At the workshop, prof.Angel Barajas, a leading researcher at IDlab, presented the study on the impact of financial fair play (FFP) rules established by UEFA on the auditing costs of football clubs. The article also examines the factors that influence the cost of audit services. So, in the article, audit costs are considered from the point of view of the presence of foreign investors, the audit firm's affiliation with Big4, and also the gender of the auditor.
The study shows that after the introduction of FFP rules there was an increase in the cost of audit services. In addition, the authors emphasize the need to monitor UEFA not only the cost of the auditor's services, but also the quality of audit reports.
