IDLab Seminar "From Diploma to Research Paper: An Important Step"

On May 6, 2025, the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy (IDLab) hosted a workshop titled "Cooking Up Your First Research," which covered the fundamentals of preparing your first scientific publication. The event attracted over 20 participants, ranging from IDLab trainees to seasoned researchers.

In the first part of the seminar, Mariya Molodchik, a senior researcher at IDLab, discussed the key differences between a thesis and a scientific article. She also explained how to highlight the scientific novelty of research and how to choose a suitable journal for publication.

During the second part of the workshop, IDLab research assistants presented their thesis papers, which will serve as the basis for future research articles.

  • Anastasia Kireicheva, a fourth-year bachelor's student, presented her paper, "The Impact of Human Capital on SMEs' Efficiency Under External Uncertainty: Evidence from Russian Companies.”
  • Yelizaveta Melchekova, a fourth-year bachelor's student, presented her work, "The Emotionality of Soccer Fans as a Tool for Income Maximization."
  • Artem Pastushkov, a Bachelor's degree graduate, presented his paper, "Influence of Technology Project Characteristics on Crowdfunding Success."

The workshop was a lively discussion in which participants actively discussed the presented papers and suggested ideas for further research extensions. The organizers are continuing the “Cooking Up Your First Research” series and invite anyone interested in developing their research skills to participate in future events.
