The joint project of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy of the National Research University Higher School of Economics - Perm and the research team of Iran University of Science and Technology is aimed at studying the role of intellectual resources in the internationalization of companies from developing countries in the conditions of exogenous shocks. It was one of the winners of the International Academic Cooperation Competition of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

The research group of the University of Science and Technology of Iran has been cooperating with the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy in the format of knowledge exchange in the field of intellectual resources research for several years. As a result of joint work, and taking into account the similarity of economic and geopolitical landscape of Russia and Iran, the project "Internationalization of Companies from Developing Countries: The Role of Intellectual Resources in Response to Exogenous Shocks" was developed.

The project intends to address the research problem of using and intensifying internal resources for the purpose of firm internationalization in three directions. First, at the firm level, the focus is on intellectual resources. Second, the context of internationalization of firms from developing countries will be selected. Third, the role of intellectual resources for these firms is examined under exogenous shocks such as economic crises, sanctions, and pandemics. On the basis of the obtained empirical data, brief analytical notes will be prepared and the possibilities of practical application of the obtained scientific results will be shown for their use in the management of companies and in the development of government programs to support international cooperation and exports.

The Iran University of Science and Technology team includes Amir Zakery, assistant professor, PhD; Mohammad Sadegh Saremi, assistant professor, PhD; Ruhollah Aboojafari, assistant professor, PhD; Fahime Mohammadi, graduate student and several students.

The team of the HSE-Perm includes employees of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy, the project manager is Mariya Molodchik. It is also planned to attract new researchers - undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students.

The project will be implemented in 2025-2027. During this period, it is planned to organize joint seminars, including field trips, as well as student and international conferences and case championships.

We see the importance of the joint project with the Iran University of Science and Technology in strengthening the international expert position in the field of studying the processes of internationalization of the company under sanctions pressure with a focus on the effective use of intellectual resources, as well as in creating a point of attraction for young researchers focused on solving economic problems using quantitative methods of data analysis, including the use of AI tools. One of the important applied results of our work will be the solution of practical tasks of increasing the internationalization of Russian companies.
